The News items below comprise the site update prior to our relaunch using a Content Management System (CMS). It's our way of preserving the history of the Ultima 6 Project! Take a walk down Memory Lane by reading bottom to top. U6 Project M1 Release Written by Jesse Strachman February 19, 2006 The U6 Project has released U6 Milestone 1, and it is now available via FilePlanet for your downloading pleasure. To install, download the .zip file, and extract it into a temporary folder. Then, run the setup.exe program. It will set up all your shortcuts for you. Milestone 1 will take you through character generation, the opening sequence, Lord British's castle, and the sewers below. Please leave feedback in the forums. A few notes: If you have trouble getting it running, check the following: - Remove all junk from your My Document\Dungeon Siege\Bits folder.
- Check to make sure there aren't any stray .dsres or .dsmod files in

Mirrors: Domain Troubles and Upcoming Public Release of M1 Written by Jesse Strachman February 13, 2006 Just wanted to let you know that we've been having some domain transfer issues. We seem to have the worst of it under control now, but the domains "u6project.com" and "u6archon.com" will likely be up and down for a while. Unfortunately, these website troubles couldn't have come at a worse time, since we're about to release what we call "M1". M1 is a showcase of the first part of the game, which will get you into Lord British's castle and the sewers. We plan on releasing it next Sunday, barring any unforeseen circumstances, and hopefully, if you can find the website, you'll know about it. We still need one more world builder, and as always, we need portrait artists. If you can help out,

. January 2006 Update Written by Jesse Strachman January 24, 2006 A few announcements for this month. First, allow me to introduce a few new team members (in no particular order). Feel free to stop by our forums and give them a warm welcome. - Arkaeyn, our new dialogue writer, was referred to us by our friends over at the U5 Lazarus project. He's currently working on retooling the NPC conversations for the town of Britain, and aspires to write dialogue professionally for a game company.
- Android Andy hails from the great nation of Britannia itself (England, really) and has been spending a good number of his waking hours working on building Lord British's castle. We even have screen shots to prove it.
- Niko, a.k.a. Ged, hails from Finland, and is somehow going to get these pesky Gargoyles to come for life for us. We've got some screen shots of those suckers too, in case you're curious what they're going to look like. He's got his own website up with some details about his work, and is also posting weekly updates on his Gargoyle progress. Way to go Niko!
We do have a number of openings still left, specifically for world builders, portrait artists, texture artists and a UI designer (hopefully doubling as a texture artist to help us flesh out the look and feel of the game). There's still a lot of coding tasks left too, so you skritters out there, don't be shy!

Latest News Written by Jesse Strachman December 22, 2005 First of all, I wanted to congratulate our sister project, U5 Lazarus, on their eagerly awaited release as of this morning. Go on over there and download it! Also, check in at their forum and tell them how great they are. We're still hard at work on our impending milestone release (very tentatively scheduled for mid-February), so look for more news on that front in the near future. But more importantly, happy holidays for those of you who choose to celebrate such things! U6 Team Still Active Written by Jesse Strachman November 10, 2005 It's time for an update; you're probably all wondering what we've been doing all month. Well, this is cut and pasted in from our forums: Currently, we are working towards our first milestone, which will be the very beginning of the game to include: - Character Selection
- Introduction/Background Sequence
- Lord British's Castle and the sewers beneath
We're hoping to have this first milestone out as a demo in the next few months. Project Britannia Update Written by Shad Heath October 19, 2005 Frilly Wumpus has given us an update on the progress of Project Britannia: Hot on the heels of Lazarus's latest announcement, we'd like to announce that Project Britannia Milestone 1 is just about ready for release. We're finalizing the last few things and would like to throw out a request. This release will clock in at around 165MB, so we'd like to ask for some assistance with mirroring the download. If anyone would like to host a mirror, please

if you think you can help. I'd like to take a moment to announce our new SFX contributor, Exotronium. He's only 13 years old, but he seems to be able to churn out SFX scripts like nobody's business. We're hoping to have some nice screen shots up at some point. In the meantime, stop on by the U6 forums and say hi to him and the rest of the U6 team! Announcing the Official Launch of Project Britannia Written by Jesse Strachman August 25, 2005 Folks, this news is about as big as it gets. On another note, our new official forums will be hosted on Project Britannia's website for the foreseeable future. You can check them out right now, as they are up and running and shouldn't be disappearing like our previous couple of forums. Forums down Written by Jesse Strachman August 17, 2005 Hi folks. Sorry to report, but it seems that our forums are down. I'll be giving an update as soon as I know more about what's going on. If anyone knows what's up with siegetheday.org, please

Looking For a Few Good People Written by Jesse Strachman August 8, 2005 If you haven't already heard, we're currently working on solidifying the technical portions of the system and we're about to embark on a major push to implement the actual content. That means it's time for all you guys with Siege Editor skillz to step up and volunteer to help out! Why? You can link to it here. U6P update Written by Jesse Strachman October 1, 2003 Sorry things have been so quiet up here. See, Sliding Dragon is working on an entirely new website, and it isn't ready yet. We've been really, really busy. We've gotten a couple of regions completely mapped out and stitched together, and we're going to be posting some screen shots soon once the new website is ready. We've got a bunch of screen shots of the new spellcasting interface, and a couple of good ones of the new conversation engine. We still need world builders, modelers, and artists.

Development report Written by Jesse Strachman August 13, 2003 A few things to report. We're making progress on several fronts now. We've got some of the Serpent's Spine done (screenshots hopefully coming soon), a good chunk of the conversation engine is done (screenshots definitely coming soon), and we've been doing some good work on the spell-casting UI.
Some things to look out for: The conversation engine features branching logic and some fairly complex features, such as NPC memory, and setting flags for conversation branches on other characters. These features are actually complete! We'll be adding some other new features soon, like branching depending on the gender of the Avatar, etc.
We're making progress on world building, but we are still looking for two 3d designers, a 2d texture artist, and a portrait artist for the conversations. We need the 3d designers to help build some of the architecture that we're going to need in order build Britannia, such as the brick walls of Trinsic, or the log cabins of Yew. Please

Anyway, be sure to check out the new clips in the gallery, and then go on over to Steven's website and see what else he's working on (*shameless plug*). Job Openings Written by Jesse Strachman August 1, 2003 I've posted a new job opening for a programmer-type person. We've realized that we have a need for someone to tackle the rather complicated character generation system for the Avatar. Any volunteers?

if you want to help. Site Issues Written by Jesse Strachman July 29, 2003 Looks like we've been having some ODBC problems with the planetdungeonsiege server. We're looking at other options for posting news. Sorry for the inconvenience. U6P Update Written by Jesse Strachman July 21, 2003 We're finally starting construction on the game itself. We've got our first draft of a region done and we're looking it over now. We could use a couple more world builders to do some basic terrain building, as Britannia is vast.
We still need a 3d artist to tackle the buildings of Britannia for us, along with a 2d artist to do some of the textures and portraits. We've also speced out all the spells, so now we need a decent skritter to implement them, along with some of the sfx. Please

if you want to volunteer. U6P Update Written by Jesse Strachman July 1, 2003 A couple of major announcements. We have two new 3d artists and a new world builder. We'll be putting their info up soon. We're still looking for a portrait artist/2d texture artist to help us with skinning some of the models. Also, I managed to finish the basic code for the branching dialog engine. It actually adds and removes options as you click on them. This is a major milestone for us and allows us to make major strides forward. One of our builders, Bossman, is working hard on the Trinsic demo. Stay tuned. Internships, anyone? Written by Jesse Strachman June 25, 2003 Hey folks. I wanted to make sure you all knew that this was a fan-based, volunteer project. I've been getting some resumes and stuff from people who are looking for paid jobs and such. Sorry, we're just a bunch of avid fans looking to remake a great classic game so people can continue to appreciate it for ages to come. If you want to help out, by all means

We shifted our focus from the Cove demo to a demo of Trinsic. We are hoping to show off our newest world builder's skills. Updated Jobs Listings Written by Jesse Strachman May 7, 2003 We managed to get a few new faces on board, but there are still a whole lot of openings left to fill. We really need some 3d/2d artists to help us get the look and feel right, and a couple more world builders wouldn't hurt either. If you think you might be able to lend a hand in either regard, please check out our job openings and
